To support China's achievement of "Dual Carbon" goals and promote local green and low-carbon transformation, the Energy System Engineering Professional Committee of the China Energy Research Society held a seminar titled "Local Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality: Deepening and Breakthroughs" in Guangzhou on March 24-25.
More than 100 leaders and experts from various fields across the country gathered together to discuss the construction of a scientific decision-making support system for "dual carbon", the transformation and development of key sectors and industries, and the specific practices of localities in achieving the "dual carbon" goals. The seminar provided a valuable platform for in-depth exchanges and insights into China's carbon reduction efforts.
This seminar was divided into six forums: Domain hotspots and policy trends, Local "dual-carbon" strategy implementation experience, Construction of scientific decision-making support system for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, Low-carbon development and methane reduction in agriculture in central regions, Local green and low-carbon industrial transformation, and Energy system transformation in the Greater Bay Area.
It was sponsored by the Energy System Engineering Professional Committee of the China Energy Research Society, with the Green Innovation Development Center, the Secretariat of the Green Low-Carbon Development Think Tank Partner, the Guangdong Low-Carbon Development Promotion Association, and the Guangzhou Energy Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as the organizers.
The Energy System Engineering Professional Committee of the China Energy Research Society was established in 1981 and is one of the earlier and more active committees of the China Energy Research Society. It brings together experts in the field of system engineering from universities and research institutions, focusing on energy analysis system models, greenhouse gas emission reduction technologies, and other areas. It promotes the coordinated and win-win development of China's economy, social progress, energy security, and environmental protection, and contributes to global climate governance. The Secretariat is currently located at the Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy of Tsinghua University, with Professor Zhang Xiliang serving as the Chairman and Professor Teng Fei as the Secretary-General. The Green Low-Carbon Think Tank Partner is a professional think tank exchange platform in the field of green low-carbon development in China supported by this professional committee.
